Kavita has been a dedicated part of Make-A-Wish India for 29 years. Her journey began when she read about the organization in a newspaper, seeking volunteers. Initially uncomfortable with hospital visits, her first experience changed everything. Her first experience with wish fulfillment profoundly changed her perspective on life. She met a child with critical illness who had been given only seven days to live by his doctors. The child initially refused to share his wish, fearing it would burden Kavita. However, Kavita gently persuaded him to reveal his wish, which was to meet Shahrukh Khan. Determined to make this happen, Kavita arranged for the meeting. Miraculously, the child’s health began to improve the very next day, and he lived for more than three months, far beyond the doctors’ predictions. This experience not only brought immense joy to the child’s life but also gave him new hope and strength to keep fighting. Kavita was deeply moved by this transformation and resolved to dedicate herself to bringing similar moments of joy and hope to other children. The child’s words, “The life my mother gave me was over, but now I’m living the life that Kavita aunty gave me through Shahrukh Khan,” left a lasting impact on her. This defining moment solidified Kavita’s commitment to the mission of Make-A-Wish India, inspiring her to continue spreading light and hope every day, providing them with the strength to keep fighting.
