Even as a child, Rahul G Phulora was fascinated by stars, planets and the moon, and had developed a keen interest in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Having participated in various science events, and winning many awards and certificates of appreciation, he became a great admirer of Dr. Jayant Narlikar. Dr Narlikar is a renowned scientist in India, and besides being the Founder of I.U.C.A.A., is the Department Head of Astronomy and Astrophysics. Rahul religiously reads books written by him and keenly watches television programme on Astronomy and Astrophysics. The moment Rahul met Rita and the team of volunteers from the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of India, he expressed his wish to meet Dr. Narlikar in person and visit I.U.C.A.A. in Pune, which is world famous for studies and
research in Astronomy and Astrophysics. When contacted, Dr. Narlikar happily consented to meet Rahul and his father at I.U.C.A.A, accompanied by a volunteer from the Foundation.
When Rahul met Dr. Narlikar he enthusiastically asked himall the questions he had on a myriad of subjects, such as the time machine, the black hole in space, spherical geometry etc. Dr. Narlikar patiently explained all these concepts in simple terms, with examples. He was very impressed with Rahul's knowledge on the subject and inquired about his reading habits. They exchanged e-mail ID's and made Rahul's day by gifting him a set of books written and autographed by Dr. Narlikar.
Rahul was overjoyed on being given a brief tour of the I.U.C.A.A. campus with permission to carry out a few experiments in their laboratory. We sincerely wish to thank Dr. Narlikar for giving Rahul his valuable time and inputs in order to motivate him further in his quest for knowledge.
Preity shares her dimples
Saipadmamalini is a die hard fan of Priety Zinta's dimples and dances. She has seen all the films in which the bubbly actress has acted and always had a burning fire in her heart to meet her favourite star. The meeting with Preity Zinta was arranged at Filmcity where Preity Zinta had a song sequence to be shot. When Preity met the wish child, she made her comfortable in no time. It was like a meeting of two friends seeing each other after a long time. Saipadmamalini gave Ms. Zinta a gift she had brought along with her.
Soon after Preity Zinta went on the stage and arranged for Saipadmamalini to sit in the first row from where she could get an un-obstructed view of the stage. When the dance
performance began, Saipadmamalini swayed to the rhythm of the music and clapped to the beat of the song.
Whenever Preity would finish a shot, she would come back and speak to the wish-child. She spent a long time chatting with the child and before leaving gave her a warm hug and kissed her. That was the most memorable moment for all present and our hearts overflowed with joy when we saw the smiles on Padmamalini's face.
Similar was the story of our wish child Hetvi, a 13 year old girl, who was always accompanied with her parents. She seemed to be a very contented girl who did not want anything from anybody. Even though her illness had affected her eyesight, she was very fond of Preity Zinta movies which she would hear and then visualise in her mind. Naturally, her cherished wish was to meet Preity Zinta. On a chosen day, Hetvi accompanied by her cousin sister went to meet Ms. Zinta at her office. After initial introductions got over, Preity spent more than an hour sitting next to Hetvi holding her hand, enquiring about her health, her schedule, her hospital visits, diet and other tings. In between, Preity shared a few of her own diet tips with Hetvi. The actress truly has the ability to make her fans comfortable within minutes. In spite of her busy schedule, Ms. Zinta was very grateful for having spent time with Hetvi, to make her wish come true and make it a memorabl eprience.
